Immaculate Bazare Owomugisha

Immaculate Bazare Owomugisha is a Uganda Health, HIV, Gender, and Human rights Attorney with over 15 years’ experience managing and leading HIV, Health and Gender program implementation, strategic litigation on human rights issues, advocacy, mobilization and community engagement on gender and social inclusion. Skilled in cross functional teams and convening different stakeholders, including government, private sector, civil society, and right holders to tackle human rights challenge. Extensive experience in HIV/AIDS law and ethical considerations. She is well experienced in meaningful engagements of communities and integration of human rights-based approaches to inform policy to policy formulation.

Immaculate, has worked with Uganda Network on HIV, Law, Ethics and HIV/AIDS (UGANET) as Head, Advocacy and Strategic Litigation. She is current a member of Supervisory Board of HIV Justice Network (HNJ), A member of Board of Trustees for AIDS Rights Alliance of Southern Africa (ARASA), a member of International Steering Committee of ICW, Global, International Community of Women Living with HIV Eastern Africa (ICWEA) and sits on the board of other national NGOs.  She is also a member of National Steering Committee on the Equity Plan “Leaving No One Behind: A National Plan for Achieving Equity in Access to HIV, TB and Malaria Services in Uganda (2020-2024)”
