Anand Grover

Anand Grover  is a well-respected and long-time advocate and activist on HIV and human rights and has argued many cases as lead counsel in ground breaking legal interventions relating to the rights of people living with HIV. He is a designated Advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India and the co-founder and Director of the Lawyer’s Collective (India). Mr Grover has spoken at the national, regional international conferences. He presented the Jonathan Memorial Lecture at Toronto Conference on HIV/AIDS

Mr. Grover has served as a member of various boards and in leadership positions in the health sector, for instance as member of the drafting group of the International Guidelines on Human Rights and HIV/AIDS, as a National Advisory Board Member of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), a member of the World Care Council, and a member of the Board of the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) and he is presently member of Global Commission on Drug Policy. As well as previously serving on the UNAIDS Reference Group on HIV and Human Rights, he also served as the UN Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health (Right to Health) on the UN Human Rights Council for 8 years between 2008 and 2014.  At the request of the Government of India, Anand Grover and the Lawyers Collective HIV/AIDS Unit drafted the HIV Bill, which is pending with the Government.  He is regular teacher at many academies, including the Indian National Judicial Academy and State judicial academies.
